What's the Point on Having a Round Bed, Anyway?

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

Okay, so, we don’t tend to see round beds very often. Maybe in a high-end hotel suite, or in a master bedroom belonging to people with a very specific sense of style. At first glance, a round bed might seem pointless… and weird. But there are features to a round bed that standard rectangular beds just can’t compete with.

First, round beds make a real style statement, but that style statement is also versatile. You can go minimalist and forego a headboard, or you can go all out and have a curved, tufted headboard that gives a cozy yet almost royal vibe. Round beds are great for big rooms, because you don’t necessarily have to put the bed near a wall. And to add even more interest (and convenience), you can get a rotating frame. So if you have a TV on one wall and a beautiful view out windows on the opposite wall, you can have your cake and eat it too with a rotating round bed.

Round mattresses also provide a different sleep style than standard-shaped mattresses, because they have no edges. It’s pretty much impossible to roll off a round mattress, and you don’t have to worry about banging your shins on the corners of your bed frame - because there are no corners. The other cool thing about sleeping on a round mattress is that, if you do forego a headboard, there’s really no “top” or “bottom” to a round bed, meaning you can sleep in pretty much any position you want.

There are Less Cons than Pros to Round Beds:

The complications that may come with a round bed aren’t hard to identify. And we admit, they aren’t right for every room or every budget. Custom made mattresses are always pricier than a standard, out-of-the-box rectangular mattress. And round beds aren’t exactly space-saving beds. And you might also be thinking: where would I even find sheets for one of these things? But it’s really not that complicated.

Finding the Perfect Round Mattresses and Beautiful Linens

Round mattresses might not be super common, but Custom Mattress Factory is the perfect place to look for one or design your own. They come in typical sizes, too! You can get a king size round mattress, or if you don’t have the room, downsize to a queen. Custom mattress manufacturers are great for any kind of custom-made bed you can’t find in brick and mortar stores. Why? Well, we can make any size or type of bed you want, and we can make the custom-sized linens you need for something as unique as a round mattress. Imagine sleeping on our 600 thread count Egyptian cotton and rotating your bed to look out at your city skyline, sipping coffee in the morning. It doesn’t get much better than that.

See? Round beds are actually a lot more accessible (and versatile) than you thought!
